Akrotiri, Santorini
Tucked into the southern cliffs of Santorini, Akrotiri is a village where time slows down. Here, the hum of motorbikes and cruise ships gives way to birdsong, gentle winds, and the occasional church bell. From the doorstep of White Curves Santorini, you're steps away from one of the island’s most historic, authentic, and visually striking regions.
We chose Akrotiri not just for its views—but for its soul.

Ancient Akrotiri – Europe’s Pompeii
A short 5-minute drive from the hotel brings you to the prehistoric settlement of Akrotiri, one of the most important archaeological sites in the Aegean. Preserved in volcanic ash from the eruption of Thera (circa 1600 BC), this Minoan town reveals advanced urban planning, three-story houses, vibrant frescoes, and an eerily intact moment in time.
Open daily for guided and self-guided visits
Museum-quality preservation under a bio-climatic roof
Combine with a visit to the Museum of Prehistoric Thera in Fira to see original frescoes
💡 We’re happy to book a licensed guide or arrange transport directly from the hotel.
Beaches Born of Fire
Akrotiri is home to some of the island’s most striking and geologically unique beaches:
Red Beach (2 km): Iron-rich cliffs, red sands, deep turquoise wate
White Beach (by boat): Isolated, surreal, accessible by sea only
Mesa Pigadia: Local-favorite, calm, and less touristic
At White Curves, we’ll gladly help arrange boat rides or suggest the best time to visit based on tide, crowds, or weather.

Akrotiri Village & The Castle
Built around a 13th-century Venetian fortress (locally called Goulas), the heart of Akrotiri still feels like a living, breathing village. Narrow lanes twist between whitewashed homes and traditional cave houses, while local tavernas serve fresh-caught fish, tomato fritters, and house-made wine.
It’s quiet, yet lively in its own gentle rhythm.
Wineries, Culture & Slow Living
Santorini’s famous Vinsanto wine has deep roots in this part of the island. Within 10–15 minutes from White Curves you’ll find several family-owned wineries offering tastings, vineyard walks, and local food pairings. We recommend:
Gavalas Winery (Megalochori)
Venetsanos Winery (on the cliff)
Estate Argyros (for biodynamic wine lovers)
Ask us for a private tour or sunset tasting setup—we work with small, trusted partners for an authentic experience.
